Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Chippa United\u2019s General Manager Sandiso Mpengesi has seen potential in Mbabane Swallows defender Kwakhe \u2018Stopper\u2019 Thwala.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mpengesi is considering the versatile defender, as possible future investment for the team. The publication reported that Thwala turned down an offer to join the South Africa\u2019s DStv Premiership club, after being offered a lucrative three-year contract, with a monthly salary of over E50 000. Earlier this month, it was reported that Thwala, who plays for both Sihlangu and Mbabane Swallows, had travelled to South Africa for trials with Chippa United. The general manager of the Chilli Boys, stated that, although they were surprised by Thwala\u2019s last-minute decision to disappear from the club, they wanted to sign him because they saw potential in him as a good investment for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I do not know all the details of what transpired, as the club, we were ready to offer him a contract and have him play for our team. Thwala is a promising young player who could have added tremendous value to our team. We saw potential in him as a good investment for the future, and were disappointed that he decided to decline our offer,\u201d he said. The versatile player had received an invitation to undergo assessments with Chippa United, but he decided to return to Swallows due to alleged ill-treatment he reportedly experienced while staying at the team\u2019s base in Port Elizabeth.<\/p>\n

This was after being offered a three-year contract and a salary of over E50 000 a month. Thwala, who joined Swallows from Young Buffaloes, was back in action when the team faced Green Mamba at the Mavuso Sports Centre. He had been unavailable for Swallows\u2019 last two games against Denver Sundowns in the league and their Ingwenyama Cup Last 16 game at Tambankulu Celtics. Meanwhile, FIFA officially lifted the transfer ban against Chippa United ahead of the DStv Premiership second round. The Gqeberha-based side was banned from registering new players following a dispute with defender Abdi Banda. This comes after Chilli Boys had failed to compensate the Tanzanian international when he left the side last year. However, Banda has received the amounts due to him. Kwakhe Thwala could not be reached at the time of compiling this report yesterday.<\/p>\n
