He commenced his duties on April Fool\u2019s Day &#8211; last Friday. PLE Chairman Mark Carmichael confirmed that the CEO was in office without an employment contract, as they were busy working on it as an organisation. He said by evening today they would be done with Makhanya\u2019s contract. \u201cThis is not an easy thing to do, but I can promise you that by tomorrow after our monthly meeting, we will be done with the contract of the CEO,\u201d Carmichael said.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about how they would tie Makhanya to the organisation, the chairman said the contract would be around two years. \u201cHe should be given at least a two-year contract, but as I have said, everything will be sorted after our monthly meeting,\u201d he clarified. Meanwhile, Makhanya also confirmed that he was in office without the employment contract, but was working under what is called a Heads of Agreement. \u201cIt\u2019s true that I still don\u2019t have the contract with me, we are using the Heads of Agreement which is in place. The contract will replace the Heads of Agreement,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><b>Non-binding<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A \u2018Heads of Agreement\u2019 is an initial, non-binding document that establishes the basic framework for a partnership or transaction, it is the first step towards creating a formal deal, and due to its tentative nature, can often be renegotiated.
