These were the words of Jwaneng Galaxy Public Relations Officer (PRO) Tankiso Moreke when quizzed on whether they received the petition over their newly-signed midfielder Mxolisi \u2018Kudus\u2019 Mkhonto, by the United Eswatini Diaspora (UED) on unprintable allegations on the former Green Mamba captain. The PRO was also asked on what steps they would take after the allegations by the UED. According to latest reports, the South African organisation wrote a letter to the Botswana Premiership side, requesting the release of the former national team, Sihlangu, box-to-box midfielder, by virtue of being a member of the security forces, who are accused of violence during the political unrest that occurred in the country in 2021.<\/p>\n

Violence<\/b><\/p>\n

The violence which started as a peaceful demonstration for political change in the governing of the country, escalated, which saw the burning of properties, the looting of businesses and loss of lives. The UED, through the letter, said they intended to mobilise some of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) affiliates around the matter of the Eswatini international player. \u201cIn the meantime, we will mobilise Swazis (emaSwati) in the SA diaspora to picket whenever Jwaneng Galaxy plays in SA, as long as Mxolisi Mkhonto is part of the Botswana football team,\u201d reads an extract from the letter. The PRO of the club, which was formed after the merger between Jwaneng Comets and Debswana Youngsters in 2015 said they would not involve any political party when dealing with the issue. \u201cYes we have received it and we will discuss it through the right channels and not political parties,\u201d Moreka said. He did not want to comment on whether the player was affected psychologically or not after the disturbing news.<\/p>\n

Comment<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t make any comment for now, this matter is still new in our office,\u201d he said. Meanwhile, Mkhonto\u2019s former club (Green Mamba), through the office of the Chief Executive Officer (PRO) Mandla Sibiya, revealed that they had written to their Botswana counterparts to clear the air on the allegations by UED. \u201cWe explained that these were baseless allegations directed at the player, aimed at distracting his focus at his new team,\u201d Sibiya said. He also said as a team, they were looking at allegations as baseless made by people who did not want to see the country at peace. Sibiya further said the reason they took the initiative to clear the air came after they felt that Jwaneng Galaxy would be scared after the allegations. On the other hand, \u2018Kudus\u2019 is the second local player who plies his trade in Botswana after former Mbabane Highlanders midfield maestro Banele \u2018Stiga\u2019 Ndzabandzaba joined Police XI last year.<\/p>\n
