Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has challenged Editors from various media houses in the country to see to it that they remunerate all media workers very well.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dlamini said this when meeting the Editors today at Cabinet Offices at Hospital Hill in Mbabane. The Premier said as someone who was passionate about the welfare of workers, he challenged the editors to ensure that all media workers were remunerated well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am passionate about the welfare of workers and I asked Editors to look into the renumeration of all media workers and ensure that it is decent while addressing the inequality that persists within media organisations,\u201d the Prime Minister said.<\/p>\n

Dlamini said he expressed Government\u2019s desire to work with the media and also expressed Government\u2019s recognition of the media as an important stakeholder towards national development.<\/p>\n

The Premier also urged Editors to ensure that they inculcate a culture of responsible and balanced reporting and advised them against sensationalism. He challenged them to play a leading role in improving the quality of journalism in the country by adequately training journalists and ensuring that media houses invested their profits back into the media business. \u201cI further asked that they adopt a fair and patriotic stance towards Government and the country, respectively,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On their part, Editors assured the PM and his team of their commitment to working with Government with the best interests of the country at heart. They raised concerns regarding Government\u2019s investment in public radio and television. Lastly, they assured the PM and his team that they would play their watchdog role fairly, holding Goveernment accountable and exposing all those who misused public funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am grateful for this fruitful engagement and I look forward to continuous engagement with our media,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
