Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Although the ministry of health was cautious in its statement, the number of recorded cases for last week have now exceeded the cautionary stage.<\/b><\/p>\n

This follows that seven people tested positive for COVID-19 between February 18 and 23, against the average five that minister of health Mduduzi Matsebula said in a statement last week was not yet cause for panic.<\/p>\n

However, the latest figures, according to director of Health Services Dr Velephi Okello, is proof that the public is not yet safe from the virus.<\/p>\n

Okello yesterday explained that all seven were scattered between the four regions in the country.<\/p>\n

Last week government cautioned the nation on the threat of the virus, having monitored flu-like symptom cases being on the rise, and following the outbreak in Namibia and Botswana, who both reported that the cases were on the increase.<\/p>\n

Four cases were confirmed last week, which now brings the number to 11 over the two weeks.<\/p>\n

This has now taken the total number of cases to 75 213 since the virus was first recorded in the country IN 2020, while 73 780 recovered according to Okello.<\/p>\n

She highlighted that no one was currently admitted, but there were only six active cases with five recoveries.<\/p>\n

Safe<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who have died from the virus were 1 427. The public is not yet safe at all as we are still finding new cases when we conduct tests,\u201d said Okello who clarified that it is not everytime where a patient will be tested for Covid-19 if they visit a hospital with flue like symptoms.<\/p>\n

Explaining this, she said the common flue may have symptoms, even more severe than a person with Covid-19, hence the confusion.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost people have taken the first dosage of the vaccine so they will experience lighter symptoms since the virus has weakened in their systems,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
