Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Following the despicable mayhem that reared its ugly head in Nhlangano, capital city giants Mbabane Swallows and Nsingizini Hotspurs seemingly cannot escape disciplinary action from the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) for the alleged misconduct.<\/b><\/p>\n

After the incident that almost divided football fans and technical benches of both teams, the two teams were summoned by the Premier League of Eswatini as a follow-up on the incident.<\/p>\n

According to insiders, there is more to the brawl as far as the relationship between the two teams is concerned. There are ongoing on and off the field feuds that make the two teams not to see eye-to-eye.<\/p>\n

It was also said that the referee\u2019s report was not clear on which team caused the brawl.<\/p>\n

The source revealed that the teams were summoned to give an account of all the happenings during the ill-fated MTN Premier League match played at King Sobhuza II Stadium, where they settled for a 1-all draw.<\/p>\n

During the brawl, one could have mistaken the sight for a street-fight that involves the gang-wars that are currently disturbing the peace that prevailed in most communities around the country. It was the survivor of the fittest indeed.<\/p>\n

The behaviour of the fans and officials led to concerns about sportsmanship and respect in the soccer community.<\/p>\n

The PLE\u2019s action highlights the importance of maintaining sportsmanship on and off the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe summoning of Swallows and Nsingizini emphasises the importance of maintaining sportsmanship, respect, and proper conduct both on and off the field.<\/p>\n

It is also meant to bring peace to the two teams.\u201d The source said the teams were also reminded of their responsibility to uphold the integrity of the sport and contribute to a positive and inclusive soccer environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter hearing from both teams, the PLE must address these incidents and determine appropriate action. Both clubs will be expected to provide explanations and may face penalties if the incidents are found to violate league regulations,\u201d said the source.<\/p>\n

PLE CEO Kenneth Makhanya could not be drawn for comment on the matter as his cellphone rang unanswered. PLE Football Manager Petros Dlamini said he was currently not at work as he was attending to personal matters.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the scenario was mainly caused by a fight between Swallows wing-back Kwakhe Thwala and Nsingizini’s Meshack Lushaba, who allegedly head-butted each other after a confrontation.<\/p>\n

So serious was the situation that the match had to be stopped for 10 minutes as match officials tried to calm tempers.<\/p>\n
