Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Premier League of Eswatini Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya’s contract is currently being reviewed.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to reports, a task team named HR Committee, headed by Charles Matsebula has been appointed to review the contract and performance of the CEO. Other members are Victor Rodriquez, Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba and lawyer Desmond Manda.<\/p>\n

The committee was given 30 days to do the job and submit a report with a recommendation to the full executive for consideration.<\/p>\n

It is understood that the CEO’s contract comes to an end on August 31. Makhanya joined the organisation in March 2022.<\/p>\n

Makhanya confirmed the existence of the committee and that his contract was nearing the end.<\/p>\n

He highlighted some achievements during his tenure in office and believes there’s still a long way to go for him with the office.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter spending 16 years in South Africa’s top flight football I decided to come back home and help our football.<\/p>\n

I believe one of my greatest achievements while in office is the approval of the constitution. When I came in, there was no constitution as there were two versions. I\u2019m happy that we now have a constitution approved and adopted by the PLE. The document went on to be approved by the Eswatini Football Association.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also important to highlight that we now have one set of rules for the Premier League and National First Division. The only difference is club licensing requirements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Makhanya believes he has managed to win back sponsorships despite the current economic challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cI managed to renew the MTN sponsorship. I’m also happy that knockouts are back. We had a new sponsor; the MoMo Cup and the Trade Fair Cup is also back after many years of absence.<\/p>\n

Currently, we are playing the Ingwenyama Cup after it was halted in 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s tough to get sponsors due to the prevailing economic challenges,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The CEO noted that there were less incidents of violence this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are seeing behavioural changes from spectators. There are less cases of violence this season as compared to last season. However, the King Sobhuza II Stadium mayhem between Nsingizini and Swallows was one of the ugliest scenes this season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Makhanya added that they were working on measurers to regulate online content for the PLE.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have noted with concern the mushrooming of online media platforms. It\u2019s easy for everyone to come with a camera and capture our games. We are working hard to regulate online media platforms,” he said.<\/p>\n
