Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has announced that 140 of its officers have successfully completed a Basic OSSU Course, enabling them to join the prestigious ranks of the Operational Support Service Unit (OSSU) wing of the police organisation.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is stated that for the past 12 weeks, a group of police officers has undergone intense training and testing to complete the Basic OSSU Course and become part of the OSSU. Under the guidance of the experienced training officers, the trainees have developed their skills, learned to work together as a team, and embraced the values of integrity, professionalism, responsiveness and pro-activeness that are essential to being a member of the Royal Eswatini Police Service. The successful completion of this course marks an important milestone for the officers and the police service.<\/p>\n

The Senior Deputy Operations and Territorial Policing Official Vusi Masango graced the Basic OSSU Course closing ceremony, where he spoke about the importance of grit and resilience in police work. He congratulated the officers on completing the course and becoming members of the Operational Support Services Unit, and reminded them of the unit\u2019s motto. The motto of the OSSU department is: \u201cserve without fail\u201d. Masango\u2019s speech was described as being solemn yet inspiring, as he highlighted the recruits\u2019 dedication and hard work throughout the course.<\/p>\n

Masango acknowledged the many challenges the officers had faced and the obstacles they had overcome during their training, while emphasising the victories they had achieved as a team. He stressed the importance of applying the knowledge and skills gained during the course to serve the nation, and expressed the hope that the officers would continue to uphold the principles of diversity and inclusion within the REPS. Of the 140 police officers who completed the training, 37 were female, highlighting the service\u2019s commitment to gender equality and celebrating International Women\u2019s Month.<\/p>\n
