Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Mbabane Highlanders striker Kwadwo Frimpong has reportedly exited the team after receiving an offer from Asian club Regar-TadAZ.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Ghanaian-born striker joined Highlanders during the mid-season transfer window in January. Frimpong signed with Highlanders after being transfer-listed by Shiselweni outfit, Nsingizini Hotspurs, when the year began alongside notable players such as Tanaka Chinyahara, Njabulo Dlamini, and Siyabonga Shiba. Frimpong\u2019s move to Highlanders coincided with the signing of former DStv Premiership player Pentjie Zulu, who joined Highlanders despite interest from their traditional rivals, Mbabane Swallows. The latest news was that the talented striker will be departing Eswatini tomorrow to join his new team, Regar-TadAZ, in Asia. It has been confirmed that Frimpong has received clearance from Highlanders, with his contract initially set to expire at the end of this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrimpong has received an enticing offer to play in Asia for Regar-TadAZ. In light of this opportunity for Frimpong to advance his career and showcase his skills in a more competitive league. Mbabane Highlanders agreed to release him from his current contract,\u201d a source said. When contacted by the publication, Frimpong remained tight-lipped about his impending move to Regar-TadAZ. However, he confirmed that he will provide further details about the transfer once he officially departs from Highlanders tomorrow (today). \u201cAt this time, I prefer not to disclose any specific details regarding my move to Regar-TadAZ in Asia. However, I can confirm that I will leave for Asia and will provide additional information upon leaving Eswatini,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Highlanders Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini confirmed that Frimpong informed the club about receiving an offer from an Asian team. He shared that as a result, Highlanders decided to grant him his clearance, allowing him to pursue the new opportunity abroad. \u201cFrimpong informed us of the offer he received from an Asian club, and we approved his request to pursue this opportunity,\u201d Dlamini said. Dlamini proceeded to disclose that, due to the currently closed registration, the club would utilise the players they have available.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven that the registration period is closed, the club will rely on its current players until the end of the season, at which point we can assess the need for additional signings. Despite Frimpong\u2019s brief tenure, our scoring rate remained relatively consistent both before his arrival and during his time with the team. While he showcased resilience and creativity on the field, he didn\u2019t manage to score for the club. However, his contribution to creating opportunities was significant. Overall, we are not overly concerned about the team\u2019s performance, following his departure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
