Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has urged its customers to be aware of scammers demanding payment for illegal connections.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is stated that EEC has been made aware of a scam involving individuals posing as EEC employees and asking customers for money to remove their names from a list of people whose premises will be disconnected from the power supply.<\/p>\n

The company, through a statement, has clarified that these individuals were not associated with the company, and that it never asked for money in exchange for disconnecting customers from the power supply. EEC customers were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities.<\/p>\n

According to EEC, the persons making these fraudulent requests are not affiliated with the company in any way, and that customers should not make any payments via mobile money platforms or personal bank accounts. EEC further reminds customers that payments for their services can only be made at authorised service centres or via the EEC bank account.<\/p>\n

EEC stated that if for any reason a customer\u2019s residence needs to be disconnected, EEC will make sure that the customer is notified and informed of the process. EEC advised customers to remain vigilant and cautious to avoid being scammed. Customers are encouraged to contact EEC directly if they have any questions or concerns.<\/p>\n
