Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Five pupils have been selected by the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) for a 10 day job shadowing programme under Junior Achievement (JA).<\/b><\/p>\n

The learners were selected from Maphilingo, Mbuluzi, Kukhanyeni and St Mary\u2019s high schools. The company announced this today through its social media platforms.<\/p>\n

JA has recently placed 41 pupils at work in different companies around the country. The purpose for this initiative is an effort to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among pupils in Eswatini.<\/p>\n

EEC has provided this platform for the pupils to learn and connect with professional engineers, where they can learn and discuss topics related to their career development. According to the programme, the pupils can potentially find mentors who can help them make informed decisions regarding their career choices.<\/p>\n

The selected pupils have been placed within various sections at EEC which are the National Control Centre, Telecommunications and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). This is a complex computer system that is operated 24 hours to monitor and control the network at all EEC\u2019s substations. This system gives the operators information on the entire network in the country and this is monitored and controlled from a computer screen.<\/p>\n
