According to Tsabedze, the Public Sector Unions (PSUs) members had not come to attend the service. He said their visit was an attempt to intimidate him, but said such would not work. He said his private space was invaded unnecessarily.

Issues

He said they clearly stated themselves during an interview with the publication that they were there on work issues and not to worship. “You do not go to church to seek interventions regarding work issues,” Tsabedze said. He said the church was not a platform where work-related matters were discussed, adding that the PSUs’ mission was wrong. The PS stated that the Government Spokesperson, Alpheous Nxumalo, had responded well to the media and everything he said was in order, hence there was nothing more he could add. The PS said whenever workers were disgruntled; there were due processes that needed to be followed, including the courts of law and the Conciliation, Meditation and Arbitration Commission (CMAC).

Tsabedze said whenever they were working, they did so with the employer’s mandate and were not personal.

Nxumalo in his previous comments said the visit by the PSUs was mere intimidation bargaining tactics that would yield no positive results. He said, in fact, the PS must report the underhanded intimidation to the nearest police station. Reacting to Tsabedze’s statement of reporting them to the police, the National Public Service and Allied Workers Union (NAPSAWU) President, Bawinile Ndlovu, said they would be grateful to be provided security by the police.

Promise

Ndlovu said nothing would prevent them from attending Tsabedze’s church as it did not belong to him, but God, adding that they worshipped anywhere they wanted. This, she said was a promise and they were still going to attend churches, whether it belonged to the prime minister or anyone else. She said the people they were leading had also shown interest in attending, stating that the numbers could be doubled or tripled in their next visit, hence the PS should prepare more chairs for them. She said the PS happens to be a pastor in a church that belongs to God, which he was also personalising. “We have a right to attend to any church and we are still going to visit his church whether he has reported us to the police or not,” Ndlovu said.

The president stated that the church had nothing to do with Tsabedze’s privacy as they had not visited his home but church and did not cause any chaos, but sat down and worshipped.

For More News And Analysis About Eswatini Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Eswatini.
