Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Outgoing members of various Governing Councils(emaBandla) will share about R50million as a gratuity payment.<\/b><\/p>\n

A gratuity is a lump-sum amount paid to an employee by an employer as a token of appreciation and the payment is made on the termination of the employee’s service.<\/p>\n

It is calculated on the basis of the employee’s last drawn salary and the number of years of service.<\/p>\n

It has been disclosed that,each member of a Governing Council appointed by the King, is highly expected to receive over four hundred thousand Rands(R400,000.00) this month and, with over one hundred(100) members of the various Councils, taxpayers are likely to pay about R50million as a gratuity.<\/p>\n

The King,through Attorney General(AG) Sifiso Mafelenkhosini Khumalo announced the appointment of new members of emaBandla on Saturday and this, automatically \u201cterminates the services of the previous appointees\u201d.<\/p>\n

But those who were re-appointed, will also receive the gratuity of the previous appointment.<\/p>\n

Reached for comments on Sunday,King\u2019s Spokesperson Percy Simelane said,his office does not handle finances and urged this journalist to send or direct such questions to the Ministry responsible for Finances.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t handle salary or graduate payments payments.Kindly take it up with the line Ministry or the department responsible for finances and such payments respectively\u201d,said the King\u2019s Spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

On another note,the King is yet to announce other appointments that will include members of the Boarder Restoration Committee(BRC), Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC) and Regional Administrators among others.<\/p>\n

The payment of the outgoing members of emaBandla comes amid shortage of drugs in public hospitals, hundreds have died since the health crisis erupted.<\/p>\n
