Cancelling the contract of Zimbabwean international Cabby Kamhapa in 2018\/2019 season has come back to haunt Mbabane Swallows. The former CAPS United defender took the \u2018Beautiful Birds\u2019 to the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) over owed salaray for two months amounting to E13 000. FIFA has since ruled in the player\u2019s favour.
\nIn a letter copied to Swallows, the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the world football governing body, informed both parties of the final and binding decision on all parties to the Status and Transfer of Players. \u201cThe respondent, Mbabane Swallows, shall pay the Claimant, Cabby Kamhapa, ZAR E13 000 as outstanding remuneration. Payment (including any applicable interest) shall be made within 45 days as from the notification of this confirmation letter,\u201d part of the letter reads.<\/p>\n

The letter, signed by FIFA\u2019s Head of Player\u2019s Status Erika Montemor Ferreira, warned Swallows that failure to adhere to the decision taken would lead to severe consequences, which include being banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amounts are paid. \u201cThe overall maximum duration of the registration ban shall be up to three entire and consecutive registration periods. The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the event that full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not paid by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods,\u201d the letter states in conclusion. Mbabane Swallows Head of Marketing and Communications Mancoba Mabuza, in a short-as-a-sneeze response said: \u201cWe will look into this matter and act in the best interest of the club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Agreement<\/b><\/p>\n

Kamhapa joined the Capital City giants in July 2019 ahead of the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup together with his CAPS United teammate, Stephen Makatuka. In a letter sent to both Swallows and EFA, the two players entered into a settlement agreement in October 2019 where Swallows were represented by current stand-in coach, Musa Manyatsi, who was assistant coach then. The two players were part of the Swallows side that reached the semi-finals of the 2019 SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup.<\/p>\n
