Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Mlungisi Makhanya,the President of the People\u2019s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) says the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF) will advocate for an independent international credible investigation into human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko\u2019s assassination as per the United States(US) Resolution 174.<\/b><\/p>\n

MSF is a coalition of pro-democracy groups fighting for democratic reforms in eSwatini,lawyer Thulani Maseko was the MSF Chairperson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will advocate for an independent international credible investigation into the death of lawyer Thulani Maseko\u201d, said the PUDEMO President when speaking during \u201cThe Visionary Perspective\u201d program hosted by eSwatini highly regarded human rights defender Velaphi Mamba.<\/p>\n

On another note,the United States(US) Congress passed Resolution 174, calling for among others, the United Nations Human Rights Council to launch an investigation into the death of the eSwatini human rights lawyer.<\/p>\n

The lawyer was killed a few hours after King Mswati threatened those calling for democracy saying his mercenaries will deal with them.<\/p>\n

But the eSwatini Government has been evasive when called upon to allow an independent international investigation into the death of the lawyer.<\/p>\n

International human rights organization that include Amnesty International,the Southern African Human Rights Defenders Network(SAHRDN) have been consistent in calling for an independent investigation into the assassination of the lawyer.<\/p>\n

While demonstrating reluctance in allowing an investigation into the death of the lawyer, the eSwatini government has been coming-up with different theories with regards to the death of the lawyer saying he was killed amid infighting within the pro-democracy movement.<\/p>\n

But eSwatini human rights defenders say, the government must allow an independent international investigation that will come-up with credible findings regarding the death of the lawyer.<\/p>\n
