Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Ben J Simelane, the lawyer representing pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube has written a letter to the Supreme Court Registrar demanding answers regarding the delayed judgement.<\/b><\/p>\n

The MPs who are facing politically motivated criminal charges,filed an appeal that was heard on the 25th March 2022, however, as reported by this Swaziland News,the judgement was blocked allegedly, by Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur clients bail appeal was heard on the 25th of March 2022, by the Honorable Judges; Annandale, Matsebula and Currie and judgement was reserved and the matter postponed sine die. It is more than(4)four weeks since our clients\u2019 bail appeal was heard by the Supreme Court. Our clients have been incarcerated since their arrest on the 25th July 2021, a period of more than (9) nine months. Bail is by it\u2019s very nature urgent, and should be dealt with accordingly. Our clients are anxious to know the outcome of their bail appeal as soon as possible\u201d, reads the letter signed by top lawyer Ben J Simelane.<\/p>\n

A questionnaire was sent to Supreme Court Registrar Siphiwo Masuku, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

The pro-democracy MPs who were leading calls for democratic reforms in Parliament,were arrested and charged with terrorism after an order, allegedly issued by King Mswati.<\/p>\n
