Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Principal Secretary in the Deputy Prime Minister\u2019s Office, Siboniso Nkambule, has emphasized the vital role families play in nurturing and supporting children as they grow.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at Somhlolo II National Park during the Foster a Child Campaign, Nkambule highlighted the importance of foster care and the collective responsibility of communities in providing safe and loving homes for vulnerable children.<\/p>\n

The event was held in partnership with SOS Children\u2019s Villages, and Nkambule was represented by Social Welfare Director in the DPM\u2019s Office, Mcusi Shongwe.<\/p>\n

The event was hosted to raise awareness about foster care and encourage more families to open their homes to children in need.<\/p>\n

Nkambule praised the efforts of SOS Children\u2019s Villages, which is working with community-based organizations such as EWADE and various government ministries to empower families and communities towards self-reliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe emphasis on self-reliance aligns with the government\u2019s objective to empower communities to become self-sufficient rather than dependent on handouts,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He also lauded the introduction of a livestock project supported by the Rotary Club of Malkerns and Rolf Dolve, which aims to generate income and sustain the programs of SOS Children\u2019s Villages.<\/p>\n

The livestock project, initiated in 2017 in the Kangcamphalala area, is expected to benefit 320 families and over 1,500 children and young people in the community.<\/p>\n

Nkambule expressed confidence that the project would empower the community economically while ensuring sustainable livelihoods for the families involved.<\/p>\n

The PS also extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture for providing technical assistance and to the local leadership for their role in making the project a reality.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is against this background that SOS Children\u2019s Villages has introduced a livestock project which will support the sustainability of the programmes in the organisation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe livestock project has been made possible by the Rotary Club of Malkerns in partnership with Rolf Dolve, who generously gives out of his heart.<\/p>\n

As government, we appreciate and honour with sincerity the Malkerns Rotary Club and Rolf Dolve for the generous support in ensuring the success of this project.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nkambule concluded by urging continued support for SOS Children\u2019s Villages and its efforts to protect and provide for children in Eswatini.<\/p>\n

He expressed hope that the livestock project would bring lasting prosperity and joy to the community, while fostering self-reliance and resilience.<\/p>\n
