Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>As the uncertainty over the relegation of teams rages on, the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has made a request to the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) to review the current relegation stance.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 2021\/22 MTN Premier League and National First Division rules and regulations state that four teams should be relegated from the elite league at the end of the current campaign, with only two clubs promoted from the NFD to cut the number of Premier League teams to 14 from 16, while another six clubs will get the chop in the NFD.<\/p>\n

The same system was expected to be applied in the 2022\/23 football season.<\/p>\n

Latest revelations indicate that the PLE Executive Committee held a meeting recently, whereby it was agreed that the 16 teams should be maintained in the elite league. This, therefore means only two teams will be relegated, while only two might be promoted, according to sources.<\/p>\n

In the NFD, it was agreed that instead of six teams being relegated, only four must drop to the promotional league.<\/p>\n

Likewise, four teams from the regions will also be promoted to maintain the number of teams to 14. According to highly-placed sources, the document that proposes these changes has been copied to the football mother body.<\/p>\n

It must be mentioned that this proposal comes after the Board of PLE Governors raised their concerns during a Special General Meeting recently held at Sigwaca House.<\/p>\n

Reached for comment, PLE Chief Executive Committee Kenneth Makhanya confirmed the latest proposals.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, it\u2019s true that we\u2019ve sent the letter to the football mother body regarding your enquiry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe could not be drawn for comment on the matter at the time of compiling this report.<\/p>\n

The current Premier league of Eswatini Executive comprises Chairman Mark Carmichael (Denver Sundowns), Rudolph Matsenjwa (Tambuti) Polycarp Dlamini (Tinyosi ) , Victor Rodrigues (Malanti Chiefs), Charles Matsebula ( Black Swallows) , Juluka Gamedze ( Madlenya) and Sibusiso \u2018Scorpion \u2018Nxumalo (Mhlume Peacemakers).<\/p>\n
