Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority (ESWACAA) revealed that they have created about 300 direct jobs in the civil aviation industry.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was mentioned by ESWACAA Director General Andile Mthethwa during the International Civil Aviation Day commemoration held at the Hilton Hotel this morning.<\/p>\n

At the event, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, outlined a bold vision for the nation\u2019s aviation sector under the theme \u201cAdvancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Minister highlighted the vital role aviation plays in Eswatini\u2019s economic and social progress, describing it as a \u201ccatalyst for economic growth, social development, and international connectivity.\u201d He emphasized that the sector is key to fostering trade, tourism, and investment.<\/p>\n

Despite challenges such as limited aviation activity and the impact of COVID-19, Eswatini\u2019s aviation sector has shown resilience and remarkable progress.<\/p>\n

The Minister noted the successful launch of a new commercial airline, which has opened direct routes to Durban, Cape Town, and Zimbabwe. \u201cThis diversification strengthens Eswatini\u2019s connectivity, making it easier to trade, invest, and travel,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He added that the promulgation of the Civil Aviation Act in 2022 has enhanced regulations in areas such as air traffic services, aviation security, and airport tariffs.<\/p>\n

He further mentioned that the country had signed agreements with nations including Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Malaysia, and Gambia, paving the way for future commercial air routes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese agreements are the foundation for enhancing international relations and creating new opportunities for EmaSwati to travel and conduct business globally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the Minister urged the business community to harness the potential of air transport for economic activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe development of the Special Economic Zone, including a state-of-the-art cold storage facility and the recently licensed Free Zone, offers immense opportunities for businesses to thrive while supporting the aviation sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Minister concluded with a festive season message, encouraging EmaSwati to choose air travel for its efficiency and reliability.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur operators have the technical expertise and capacity to ensure safe and timely travel,\u201d he assured.<\/p>\n

Chief Ndwandwe reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to aviation as a pillar of economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue aligning with the International Civil Aviation Organization\u2019s standards, ensuring Eswatini\u2019s aviation sector remains competitive and innovative,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
