Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Shiselweni Super League side Nkwene Sundowns are proving that underdogs can strike it rich in the prestigious Ingwenyama Cup.<\/b><\/p>\n

With an impressive run so far, they have already secured E50 000 in prize money and show no signs of slowing down.<\/p>\n

Nkwene Sundowns have guaranteed E30 000 as the best-performing regional team, being the only side to reach the last 16 stages of the tournament. Additionally, they have secured approximately E17 000 for making it to the Regional semi-finals, with the potential to win the E42 500 top prize for the regional tournament.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s journey to glory began with a stunning 6-2 victory over MTN Premier League side Sidvwashini United in the last 32 stage at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. Next, they face a formidable opponent, Manzini Sea Birds, in the last 16 stages of the richest tournament in Eswatini, following Monday\u2019s draw.<\/p>\n

Other regional teams, including Emajukujuku, Ubombo Flyers, and Nsenga Comrades, were knocked out in the last 32, leaving Nkwene Sundowns as the sole representatives from the Shiselweni Region.<\/p>\n

Big Rewards at Stake<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Ingwenyama Cup 2024\/2025 Regional Super Leagues\u2019 rules and regulations, the champions of the regional phase will receive E42,500, along with gold medals and a trophy, while the runners-up will take home E22,500. The semi-finals and finals for the regional phase will be played on the same day, where the ultimate champions will be crowned.<\/p>\n

In the semi-finals, Hhohho Super League side Emajukujuku will battle Lubombo Super League\u2019s Ubombo Flyers, while Manzini Super League\u2019s Nsenga Comrades are set to face Nkwene Sundowns from the Shiselweni Region.<\/p>\n

Financial Gains for All<\/b><\/p>\n

All participating teams in the Ingwenyama Cup benefit from financial rewards, including participation fees and prizes. Sponsored by the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVA) to the tune of E5 million, the tournament began with 108 teams, with only 16 now remaining.<\/p>\n
