Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini is celebrating a momentous achievement following the election of Minister of Information, Communications, and Technology, Savannah Maziya as the Chairperson of the Global Council on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) five.<\/b><\/p>\n

This remarkable milestone was announced at the World Government Summit held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on February 13, 2025.<\/p>\n

In a press statement, government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo said Maziya\u2019s appointment as Chairperson is not only a significant personal achievement but also a historic moment for Eswatini.<\/p>\n

He stated that it firmly positions the nation as a leader in the global advocacy for gender equality and women empowerment.<\/p>\n

As the newly appointed Chairperson, Hon. Maziya will lead international efforts to promote gender inclusivity, equity, and the active participation of women in leadership, economic development, and innovation.<\/p>\n

Nxumalo explained that with a longstanding commitment to championing gender equality, Maziya has consistently demonstrated her dedication to empowering women and girls, particularly in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough her active participation in global forums, she has been a driving force in advocating for the inclusion of women in key decision-making spaces, breaking barriers, and inspiring young girls to pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated fields,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nxumalo further explained that Maziya election to this esteemed position underscores the immense potential, influence, and leadership that Eswatini brings to the global stage.<\/p>\n
