Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Alpheous Nxumalo, the newly appointed Government Spokesperson says Government does not discriminate Gays and Lesbians but African communities are struggling to accept them.<\/b><\/p>\n

On Sunday regarding the alleged discrimination of the Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual,Transgender and Intersex(LGBTI) Community in eSwatini,Nxumalo said the issue required civil engagements and education more than legislation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe think that the issue of discrimination is neither here nor there.<\/p>\n

It is just that African communities are probably struggling coming to terms with the unorthodox lifestyle of this particular community.<\/p>\n

I think in the long run it’s a challenge and question of civic engagement and education about this community more than an issue of legislating for their existence or discrimination”,said the Government Spokesperson.<\/p>\n

On another note, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender and Intersex(LGBTI) Community in eSwatini has partnered with other LBTI groups in the Southern African region to call for laws that do not discriminate against them.<\/p>\n

At the Bush Fire Festival in Malkerns on Sunday, Mbali Dludlu, of the LGBTI said they were at the festival to educate fun lovers about LGBTI issues under the theme ‘Queer Without Borders’.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have partners in Zimbabwe and Malawi, we are running campaigns calling for African Governments to enact laws that do not discriminate against the LGBTI Community”,she said.<\/p>\n
