Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The Standard Bank Choral Music Competition to be held on Sunday will be bigger and better as it will be joined by a guest choir from South Africa, Bokamoso Chorus.<\/b><\/p>\n

The choir, which recently won the African Choral and Gospel Championship (ACGC) held in Rwanda, has been invited by the Eswatini Choral Music Association to grace the competition slated for Esibayeni Lodge.<\/p>\n

The association\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Banele Maphalala, said they were happy to host the African champions to spice up the competition, where the locals would be battling for championship in the competition sponsored by Standard Bank to the tune of E250 000.<\/p>\n

The reigning ACGC champions, conducted by Kgaugelo Mpyane, have promised Eswatini the best of music on the day.<\/p>\n

The conductor said they were happy to share their music with local choral music lovers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe promise Eswatini classy and beautiful singing.<\/p>\n

The choir really can\u2019t wait to visit the beautiful country, meet new choirs and start new relationships and networks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the competing choirs are ready for the big day. Preparations are also at an advanced stage and we are hoping for a joyful day. One can remind choral music fans to get their tickets on time to avoid delays on the day of the event,\u201d said Maphalala.<\/p>\n

Choirs that will be competing on the day include three choirs from the standard category and five choirs from the large section. Also competing on the day will be 20 soloists made up of five competitors from each part being soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The 20 made it to the finals after a tough elimination held in Manzini about two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

In the large category, the legendary Manzini Choir will kick off the competition followed by their biggest rivals, His Majesty\u2019s Correctional Services, on the second slot. On the third spot will be Sweet Sounds, which will be competing for the first time without their founding conductor Mathokoza Sibiya, who handed over the baton to Tsepo Sigwane.<\/p>\n

This will, however, not be the first time Sigwane leads the choir in such a big stage. On the fourth slot is Mbabane Methodist Church Choir, who will be followed by Royal Eswatini Police Choir while Pure Voices, who graduated to the bigger league, will close the competition for the day.<\/p>\n

Only three choirs will battle it in the standard category with St Florence Catholic Church Choir kicking off the competition. They will be followed by Eswatini Mighty Voices while FTM Garment will close the category, which has seen the lowest number of entries.<\/p>\n
