Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>In a heartwarming step towards cultural inclusion, this year\u2019s Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony is set to welcome girls with disabilities, ensuring that Eswatini\u2019s treasured tradition embraces everyone.<\/b><\/p>\n

Thanks to the efforts of the Sun Screen Drive and the Strength to Cope Counselling Foundation, 12 girls and 10 who are deaf joining from DPM Office. It on the second paragraphhave already registered to participate, with more expected to join. The initiative celebrates the message that disability is not inability, and that cultural heritage belongs to all emaSwati.<\/p>\n

Bongiwe Dlamini, Disability Advocate and Event Planner, expressed excitement at seeing young girls with disabilities take part in one of the country\u2019s most iconic traditions. \u201cThis is about making sure every girl has the chance to fully experience her culture,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Support for the project has been overwhelming. Princess Sakhizwe stepped forward with food, water, juice, transport, and accommodation. Nompilo Dlamini donated protective hats for albino participants, while Mr Cheap provided emahiya and emagcebesha, ensuring the girls look the part in their traditional regalia.<\/p>\n

While contributions are still needed\u2014particularly transport for wheelchair users and additional attire\u2014the community spirit is shining brightly. Organisers encourage more persons with disabilities to register and indicate the assistance they may need to participate fully.<\/p>\n
