Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) reports strong progress toward achieving the national vision of providing 100 percent access to clean water by 2030, with current coverage reaching 76 percent and major infrastructure projects underway across the Kingdom.<\/b><\/p>\n

Managing Director Jabulile Mashwama highlighted key water projects across the country, including expansions in the Shiselweni region, where services now extend from Nhlangano to Lavumisa, and in Manzini, covering five constituencies and stretching as far as Mafutseni. These projects, she explained, are part of a broader strategy to reach underserved communities and ensure equitable access to clean water.<\/p>\n

EWSC has introduced innovations such as prepaid water kiosks and advanced water metering systems, designed to improve efficiency, reduce wastage, and make water distribution more affordable and accessible for households and businesses alike.<\/p>\n

Following His Majesty\u2019s state visit to Mozambique, EWSC secured partnerships to strengthen cross-border collaboration on water supply. One flagship project currently underway runs from Simunye to Lomahasha, drawing water from EWSC\u2019s treatment plant and connecting to Mozambique. The main pipeline and reservoirs are expected to be completed early next year, after which smaller distribution lines, will be installed to deliver water to communities along the route.<\/p>\n

In addition to infrastructure expansion, EWSC is working closely with partners such as World Vision Eswatini and government to provide safe water to 18 Tinkhundla. Over the next five years, this initiative is expected to serve more than 329,000 people, significantly improving access in both urban and rural areas.<\/p>\n

Technological innovations in water metering, showcased by Ncamiso Mkhatjwa, are also playing a key role in EWSC\u2019s strategy. These systems are designed to monitor consumption, reduce wastage, and ensure accurate billing, supporting sustainable water management across the Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Mashwama said these combined efforts reflect the Corporation\u2019s commitment to achieving the 2030 target, ensuring that every liSwati has access to safe and clean water. \u201cOur focus is not only on reaching the numbers but also on delivering a reliable and sustainable water supply that improves the quality of life for all our communities,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

With continued investment, innovation, and partnerships, EWSC is positioning the Kingdom to meet its ambitious water access goals and set an example in regional water management.<\/p>\n
