Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini will in August host the African Confederation of Co-operatives, Savings and Credit Association (ACCOSCA) 22nd Savings and Credit Cooperatives Associations (SACCA) congress.<\/b><\/p>\n

Eswatini Association of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (ESASCCO) and the commissioner of co-operatives and development office has been tasked with preparing for the congress.<\/p>\n

Eswatini last hosted the SACCA congress in 2010 and it was a success.<\/p>\n

The congress will be preceded by a two-day workshop from 29 to 30 August at Esibayeni lodge. the main event will be held on August 31 to September 3rd at the same venue.<\/p>\n

ESASCCO President Winile Vilane said the theme of the 22nd congress was co-operative model enhancing inclusive growth and economic development. She said the event would be attended by close to 40 African countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe theme has four pillars, which are co-operation, collaboration, inclusivity, and digitalisation, which influence sustainable development,\u201d she said.Vilane said this was the biggest meeting in the co-operative sector, which attracts people from all over the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from capacitating the SACCO movement, the congress will boost tourism as the delegates will get the opportunity to view the beautiful scenery of the country and interact with the benevolent people of Eswatini,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Vilane said over 40 papers would be delivered over the six day period.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese papers would be discussing issues of co-operation, collaboration and inclusion of all genders and the inclusion of those that were economically challenged or could not participate because of economic challenges,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Vilane said other papers to be discussed involved the issue of digitalisation and the issues of governance of co-operatives, compliance and regulation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hoping to instill digitalisation to co-operatives and show them that it is possible to work from home and online as it is now the relevant thing,\u201d she said. She stated that the official opening of the congress and closing ceremonies would be performed by senior government officials.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are still in talks with the officials involved and the press will be updated as soon as they indicate their availability,\u201d she said. She concluded by inviting stakeholders to partner with them as this was another way of marketing the country as the delegates would also be bringing business.<\/p>\n
