Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Somhlolo National Stadium was the centre of excitement as Eswatini played host to the first-ever Goal Getters Campaign, a unique initiative blending football and health education to give young people confidence about vaccinations.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event, supported by UEFA, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, CAF, the Eswatini Football Association, and partners in the health sector, attracted hundreds of schoolchildren eager to learn both football skills and the importance of protecting their health through vaccines.<\/p>\n

Adding to the thrill were some of Eswatini\u2019s most celebrated football figures who joined forces with international ambassadors for the campaign. Among them were Junior Magagula of Royal Leopards, Philani Mkhonto of Manzini Sea Birds, Mcolisi Mkhonto of Mapule Wanderers in Botswana, and veteran star Tony Tsabedze, formerly of Mbabane Swallows.<\/p>\n

The legends didn\u2019t just watch from the sidelines \u2013 they actively engaged with the children, running drills, teaching football techniques, and inspiring the next generation both on and off the field.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the event, Mcolisi Mkhonto described the experience as uplifting: \u201cBeing part of this campaign was fun, especially seeing the kids enjoy themselves while gaining knowledge about the importance of vaccination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great experience, especially to the young kids to know that life is very important, they have to take care of their lives while they are still young,and this campaign make them to refresh.\u201d<\/p>\n

The day\u2019s activities combined ball control, passing, and scoring exercises with interactive workshops, music, and cultural performances \u2013 ensuring that the message of vaccine confidence was delivered in a way that was entertaining and memorable for the young participants.<\/p>\n

Officials from the Ministry of Health and EFA emphasized that the campaign was a milestone for Eswatini, being the first of its kind in the country. By involving football heroes alongside trusted health voices, the initiative aims to inspire children to see vaccination as a winning move for their future.<\/p>\n

The Goal Getters Campaign now sets the tone for continued collaborations between sport and health in Eswatini, leaving behind both memories of football thrills and a stronger message of protection through vaccines.<\/p>\n
