Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Eswatini Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) has called for women and girls in small businesses to apply for funding worth E1.2 million.<\/b><\/p>\n

SWAGAA Communications and Advocacy Officer Sakhile Dlamini said this seed capital would be used to assist those women in small businesses who were affected by the political unrest in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this seed capital we are hoping to assist women and girls who were affected by the unrest and would like to start their businesses again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Dlamini mentioned that the funding would have a selection process, followed by business management training and the seed funding to rebuild the businesses. \u201cWe expect the fund to benefit 400 women and girls from all four regions of the country,\u201d said Dlamini.<\/p>\n

Dlamini stated that those who were allowed to apply were all women in any form of small business. \u201cThere is no specific business sector we are looking for but any business is welcome, should it be in baking or catering, salon, tailoring, piggery, spaza shops, fruit and vegetables and any other small business that I may have not mentioned,\u201d she said. She added that this was a project supported by The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA).<\/p>\n

According to their website, OSISA is part of the global network of Open Society Foundations (OSF) and operates in 11 southern African countries which include Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The website further states that OSISA promotes open society values by working towards building vibrant and tolerant democracies across the region, through the various thematic and country programmes. She further announced that as of yesterday application were already open and the deadline was on the 18th July, 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cInterested applicants can get application forms at any SWAGAA offices and they could be returned to any of the offices.<\/p>\n
