Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Common-wealth Heads of Government have called for the full respect of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states.<\/b><\/p>\n

They have emphasised that all countries must seek peaceful resolution to all disputes in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n

This statement forms part of the resolutions of the 26th Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held in Rwanda which ended on Saturday. His Majesty the King was among the leaders of 56 member countries that now form part of the Commonwealth family.<\/p>\n

A communiqu\u00e9 issued by the secretariat noted that leaders discussed on-going global conflicts and the associated loss of lives and infrastructure, and the displacement of people. They also discussed the on-going war following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this regard, Heads emphasised the commitment in the Commonwealth Charter, to international peace and security, and to an effective multilateral system based on international law. They took note of the relevant UN resolutions and reaffirmed their support for the Charter of the United Nations and international efforts for peace,\u201d it stated. The UN is on record as having condemned the invasion by Russia following a majority vote by member states.<\/p>\n

The leaders at CHOGM noted how the war had negatively impacted food and energy prices which now required a sustainable transformation of the current food systems to address weaknesses of the agri-food sector and build resilience in agriculture and supply chains to economic, social and environmental shocks.<\/p>\n

They further observed that disruptions to food security, nutrition, and the smooth flow of trade and exports, were undermining member countries\u2019 recovery from the pandemic and adversely affecting sustainable development and progress on the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n
