Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong> <\/span>On a day the world celebrates love, the Diocese experienced a deeper expression of it as the Church marked Valentine\u2019s Day with the ordination of two servants called to live a life of selfless love and service to God\u2019s people.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Diocese marked a significant milestone over the weekend with the ordination of Rev. Deacons Mbongiseni Dlamini and Siyabonga Ndwandwe, an event that deepened the spirit of thanksgiving and celebration among the faithful.<\/p>\n

The sacred Ordination to the Diaconate was held on Saturday, 14 February 2026, at St Peregrine\u2019s Parish, beginning with the praying of the Rosary before the Holy Mass. The ceremony commenced at 10:30am and was presided over by Bishop Jose\u0301 Luis, who ordained the two candidates into the Sacred Order of Diaconate.<\/p>\n

The parish was filled with joy as families, clergy, and congregants gathered to witness this important step in the life of the Church. Special appreciation was extended to the Ndwandwe and Dlamini families, whose unwavering support and sacrifices over the years played a vital role in nurturing these vocations, as well as to St Peregrine\u2019s Parish for its continued commitment to fostering priestly and diaconal callings.<\/p>\n

The celebrations continued on Sunday during Holy Mass, which was led by Fr Dlamini, assisted by the newly ordained Deacons. The liturgy centred on the call to go beyond merely observing laws and rules, urging believers to make conscious and righteous choices rooted in love and faith.<\/p>\n

In his homily, Deacon Mbongiseni Dlamini challenged congregants to strive beyond minimum requirements, encouraging them to live the Gospel fully rather than settling for what is merely permitted.<\/p>\n

Understanding the Role of a Deacon<\/b><\/p>\n

In the Catholic Church, a Deacon is ordained to serve the people of God through the ministry of charity, the Word, and the altar. Deacons assist the priest during Mass, proclaim the Gospel, may preach the homily, and help distribute Holy Communion.<\/p>\n

Beyond the liturgy, they are called to serve the community by caring for the poor, visiting the sick, and supporting pastoral and social outreach programmes. Their ministry is a visible reminder that service lies at the heart of Christian discipleship.<\/p>\n

As the Diocese celebrates this gift, the faithful were encouraged to keep the newly ordained Deacons in prayer as they begin their ministry.<\/p>\n

The Church expressed confidence that, guided by the Holy Spirit, Rev. Deacons Mbongiseni Dlamini and Siyabonga Ndwandwe will serve with humility, dedication, and compassion.<\/p>\n

Congratulations were extended to both Deacons on this sacred and beautiful step in their journey of faith, with prayers that the Good Lord, who has begun this good work in them, will bring it to fulfilment.<\/p>\n
