His Majesty stated that Eswatini remains grounded in Christian values and cultural principles that do not recognise same-sex unions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not promote it here,\u201d the King declared, drawing loud approval from the congregation, with pastors responding with resounding shouts of Bayethe.<\/p>\n<p>His Majesty referenced the biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah, noting that scripture illustrates how such practices were condemned, adding that Eswatini would not embrace what he termed the \u201cspirit\u201d associated with those cities.<\/p>\n<p>The King\u2019s remarks followed deliberations by pastors, who had selected same-sex relationships as one of the key topics raised Bishop Sipho Simelane from Sitsatsaweni posed the question of whether same-sex marriages are acceptable, citing Genesis 1:27\u201328.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions supporting the discussion were made by Suthu Nzima of Hlatsi, referencing Romans, and Bishop Jeromy Tsabedze, who cited Genesis 2:22.<\/p>\n<p>His Majesty noted that while same-sex relationships are increasingly accepted in some parts of the world, often accompanied by external pressure, Eswatini would maintain its stance. Some countries even threaten to withhold aid from nations that do not permit same-sex marriages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost African countries said, \u2018Lona kusengumkhuba sengakakutayeli akuyosingena futsi,\u2019\u201d the King added, emphasising that such practices are not part of Africa\u2019s values and traditions.<\/p>\n<p>During his address, the King also expressed concern over changing social behaviours, saying he was troubled by trends where some individuals adopt mannerisms of the opposite gender.<\/p>\n<p>The King emphasised that the discussions by pastors were timely and aligned with biblical teachings, particularly in an era where such issues are gaining global prominence.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the service highlighted broader social and spiritual themes. On family planning, His Majesty acknowledged that while the Bible encourages procreation to \u201cfill the earth,\u201d there is a need for responsible parenting to ensure children are properly cared for, noting that every child is a blessing from God.<\/p>\n<p>Another topic addressed by clergy included family relationships and respect between parents and children, with references drawn from Isaiah 1:2 and Exodus 20:12, emphasising the importance of strong family structures.<\/p>\n<p>His Majesty concluded by expressing gratitude for the unity demonstrated during the service, commending the coming together of different Christian denominations for Bible teachings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a great pleasure that we gather to worship God.
