This inspiring commitment follows a transformative and eye-opening lecture delivered by His Majesty\u2019s Correctional Services (HMCS) at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence on April 6, 2026.<\/b><\/p>\n

The session, which brought together spiritual leaders under the League of Churches, underscored a vital truth for modern Eswatini: the fight for our children\u2019s future requires a united front between the State and the Church.<\/p>\n

During the engaging session, expert correctional officers provided a deep-dive into the mechanics of gang recruitment. The lecture shed light on the complex factors that draw young Emaswati into dangerous circles, including peer pressure and the natural desire for connection being exploited by negative influences.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, socio-economic challenges were identified as creating a vacuum that gangs often fill with false promises, while the search for identity highlighted the urgent need for positive role models. The officers emphasised that the devastating impact of gangsterism does not stop at the street corner; it infiltrates families, schools, and even the sanctity of the church itself.<\/p>\n

The atmosphere at the Royal Residence grew deeply emotional as pastors reflected on the realities within their own communities. The session challenged church leaders to view themselves not just as spiritual guides, but as \u201ccommunity parents\u201d capable of identifying early warning signs.<\/p>\n

By creating safe spaces and providing practical guidance, the church is now positioned to intervene before a young person becomes entangled in the justice system. \u201cThis session has opened our eyes,\u201d remarked one of the attending pastors. \u201cWe now understand that we cannot remain silent. As the church, we have a duty to guide, protect, and restore our young people.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a unified stance, the pastors expressed heartfelt appreciation to HMCS for their proactive approach. Rather than focusing solely on managing offenders, the Correctional Services was commended for its visionary \u201cprevention-first\u201d strategy through community education.<\/p>\n

The League of Churches has now called upon HMCS to expand this impactful programme to various chiefdoms at the grassroots level. By taking this message to the heart of our communities, the initiative aims to nip the problem in the bud before it reaches the barracks of our correctional facilities.<\/p>\n
