Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>The NATCOM\u2019s Cup 2026 officially got underway on April 08, 2026 at the Matsapha Police Academy, bringing together police officers from across the country in a vibrant display of sport, unity, and wellness, as the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) reinforces its commitment to building a healthy and productive workforce.<\/b><\/p>\n

The tournament follows its official launch on March 25, 2026, where National Commissioner Manoma Vusi Masango unveiled the second edition of the games, marking the start of a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting fitness, good health, mutual respect, reunification, and the forging of new friendships among police officers.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony drew members of the Police Executive, Regional Commissioners, Station Commanders, and officers from various formations, formally setting the competition in motion and signalling the beginning of a multi-day sporting programme.<\/p>\n

Centred on the theme that \u201ca fit police officer is healthy and productive,\u201d NATCOM\u2019s Cup 2026 features soccer, netball, and volleyball, with the games serving as a platform to build team spirit while strengthening bonds across regions.<\/p>\n

During the earlier launch, Masango urged officers to actively participate in the tournament while maintaining a balance with their professional responsibilities, emphasising that discipline remains fundamental within the service. He cautioned against misconduct, stressing that unruly behaviour would not be tolerated and called on officers to uphold the organisation\u2019s reputation at all times.<\/p>\n

He further encouraged participation in regional 10-kilometre walks as part of broader wellness initiatives and welcomed donations towards the success of the tournament. Plans for a cross-country event scheduled for mid-April were also announced as part of efforts to expand fitness activities within the service.<\/p>\n

Chairperson of the NATCOM Cup Games, Shedrack Simelane, expressed appreciation for the continued support towards hosting the tournament, noting its role in uniting officers through sport. He also acknowledged a E50 000 sponsorship from Montigny Forest, describing it as a significant contribution towards the successful staging of the games.<\/p>\n

On the field, the opening day produced competitive results across all sporting codes. In soccer, Police Academy recorded a 3\u20130 win over OSSU, while PHQ defeated Manzini 2\u20130. Shiselweni secured a narrow 3\u20132 victory against Lubombo. In netball, Lubombo overcame Shiselweni 33\u201322, while Manzini defeated PHQ 52\u201335. Volleyball action saw Lubombo beat Shiselweni 3\u20130, Manzini overcome PHQ 3\u20130, and OSSU register a 3\u20131 win against Police Academy.<\/p>\n

The NATCOM\u2019s Cup continues in the coming days, with more fixtures lined up as officers compete for honours while advancing the broader objective of promoting unity, interaction, and physical fitness within the police service.<\/p>\n
