Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>For residents of Hluthi, the idea of their community becoming a town is no longer distant talk, but a reality slowly taking shape. On April 16, 2026, community members and business owners gathered to engage government officials on what this transformation could mean for their lives, land and livelihoods.<\/b><\/p>\n

The meeting, led by Principal Secretary Simon Zwane, created a space where community voices met policy, allowing residents to ask questions, raise concerns and better understand the process ahead.<\/p>\n

According to information sourced from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Eswatini Facebook page, the engagement forms part of efforts to ensure sustainable and efficient growth and development in Eswatini.<\/p>\n

The Ministry stated that discussions focused on the declaration of Hluthi and processes to be followed. It also outlined proposed boundaries and properties to be included as part of the town. Governance of the area during and after declaration was also part of the discussions.<\/p>\n

For many in attendance, the issue is personal. Some residents see opportunity in improved services and infrastructure, while others are concerned about how the changes may affect land ownership and community identity.<\/p>\n

Business owners expressed cautious optimism, noting that town status could open doors for growth and investment, while also calling for transparency and continuous engagement as the process unfolds.<\/p>\n

The Ministry further stated that it will continue to collaborate with the community, residents and existing structures to ensure a seamless transition during this period.<\/p>\n

As Hluthi moves closer to possible town status, the process reflects a people-centred approach, where development is shaped by the voices of those who live there and the realities they face daily.<\/p>\n
