Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>SOS Children\u2019s Villages Eswatini joined the Lisango: Building Mindful Men dialogue hosted by Swazi Plaza Properties on Saturday, April 18, 2026 bringing together stakeholders to address Gender-Based Violence (GBV), mental health, and responsible fatherhood among men.<\/b><\/p>\n

The engagement drew participants from the legal, financial, health, and correctional sectors, focusing on solutions to curb rising social challenges affecting men and their families.<\/p>\n

Attorney Simo Simelane talked about the legal implications of GBV, unpacking provisions of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act and stressing the importance of compliance and awareness. He further committed to supporting communities through legal education and free consultations.<\/p>\n

From correctional services, Mfundo Dlamini shared concerning statistics, revealing that thousands of men are currently incarcerated, while over 500 children, mostly boys are housed at Vulamasango.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 4,227 men are currently in correctional facilities, while more than 503 children are housed at Vulamasango, the majority being boys,\u201d he said, voicing out the need for stronger parental responsibility and early intervention.<\/p>\n

Contributions from Thandukwazi Hadebe encouraged men to embrace emotional openness and build supportive networks, while law enforcement officials, including Assistant Inspector Gcina Dlamini and Sergeant Kidwell Dube, emphasised crime prevention and responsible relationships.<\/p>\n

Moderator Philani Mpanza and Pastor Clement Dlamini highlighted the importance of active fatherhood, stressing that presence and guidance are critical in shaping children\u2019s identity and future outcomes.<\/p>\n

Financial experts Mthokozisi Ntshingila of Liberty Eswatini and Mbongeni Matsebula from Swaziland Building Society focused on financial discipline as essential to responsible manhood and family stability.<\/p>\n

The dialogue concluded with a call for collective action, emphasising the need to strengthen mental health support, accountability, and positive male role models.<\/p>\n
