Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>In an effort to improve affordable access to healthcare in Eswatini, Ekuphileni Clinic has partnered with South African health institution Lenmed to bring specialist doctors to assist in treating emaSwati.<\/b><\/p>\n

The collaboration was officially launched this past weekend during an event held at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini. The occasion was attended by Minister of Health Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula, healthcare professionals, and invited stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Specialists to Strengthen Local Healthcare Services<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking during the launch, Ekuphileni Clinic Director Dr Nkosikhona Advocate Dlamini said the partnership would help bring in doctors who are specialists in fields that are difficult to access in Eswatini.<\/p>\n

He said the collaboration would include:<\/p>\n

Vascular surgeons<\/b> (doctors who treat blood vessels and circulation problems)<\/p>\n

Plastic surgeons<\/b> (doctors who restore, reconstruct, or improve parts of the human body)<\/p>\n

Bariatric surgeons<\/b> (doctors who treat obesity through surgical procedures)<\/p>\n

Kidney specialists<\/b> (doctors who diagnose and treat kidney-related illnesses)<\/p>\n

Dr Dlamini noted that while some qualified doctors already exist in the country, the arrival of additional specialists would help strengthen the sector and improve access to advanced treatment.<\/p>\n

He added that the initiative would also reduce the need for many emaSwati to travel outside the country for specialist consultations and procedures.<\/p>\n

Minister Welcomes Private Sector Partnership<\/b><\/p>\n

Minister Matsebula, when making his remarks during the event, said the partnership would play a vital role in improving Eswatini\u2019s health sector.<\/p>\n

He stated that collaborations of this nature help fill gaps that may exist within the public health system, particularly in specialised treatment areas where demand often exceeds available capacity.<\/p>\n

The minister further indicated that partnerships between local institutions and regional healthcare groups are important in improving healthcare delivery, reducing waiting times, and ensuring patients receive quality treatment closer to home.<\/p>\n

Concern Over Rising Sexually Transmitted Diseases<\/b><\/p>\n

During the launch, various doctors also expressed hope that the collaboration would help address health challenges linked to sexually transmitted diseases, including syphilis, which has reportedly become an increasing concern in the country.<\/p>\n

Medical practitioners said improved specialist access could assist with earlier diagnosis, treatment, and broader awareness campaigns aimed at reducing infection rates.<\/p>\n

They added that stronger partnerships within the health sector are essential in dealing with both chronic illnesses and emerging public health concerns.<\/p>\n

Step Towards Better Healthcare Access<\/b><\/p>\n

The partnership between Ekuphileni Clinic and Lenmed is expected to expand the range of specialist healthcare services available locally, while also making treatment more affordable and convenient for emaSwati.<\/p>\n
