Africa-Press – Eswatini. <\/strong><\/span>Men of Mantambe in the Shiselweni region have urged Imiphakatsi to be fair when presiding over cases of Gender Based Violence(GBV).<\/b><\/p>\n

This was during engagement last week as part of One Billion Rising community circles under the theme “Sidla Inhloko Conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dialogues are being conducted in partnership with Journey of hope for women and girls Eswatini and MTN Eswatini Foundation.<\/p>\n

Colani Hlatjwako, the One Billion Rising Africa Coordinator said the purpose of the conversations was to engage with men to discuss solutions towards ending Gender Based Violence(GBV).<\/p>\n

“This is also a platform to empower men and young men to be champions of the fight against violence to women and girls. One Billion Rising believes that men and boys can play a huge role in combating violence against women and girls if they are also empowered,\u201d she the One Billion Rising Coordinator.<\/p>\n

Vusumuzi Alfred Mkhatshwa from Deputy Prime Minister\u2019s(DPMs) office who was facilitating during the dialogue said men are seen to be violating women and girls\u2019 rights adding that this resulted to laws that are more tight with severe sentences. “It is time as men realize that the respect that we expect from women, as men we are also expected to respect women. We should understand that rights come with responsibilities. If we infringe another person\u2019s rights the Law or justice system will come in and protect the other person\u2019s right\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The dialogues will continue in twenty(20)different communities where One Billion Rising has established community circles.<\/p>\n
