Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The French program L’Initiative announced that it has launched three projects to support the fight against tuberculosis and malaria in Ethiopia.

Hosted at the French Embassy in Addis Ababa on June 27, the announcement was an occasion to strongly reaffirm the program’s commitment to support Ethiopian civil society actors in the health sector, with a view to upholding their efforts in the fight against the three pandemics and to strengthen their capacities, a press statement from the French embassy stated.

Ethiopia and L’Initiative have seen their partnership growing stronger since 2017, with almost half a million euros in technical assistance and about 4.6 million Euros for projects, including the three projects launched on this occasion.

The three projects will be implemented in Addis Ababa city, Afar and Amhara regional states, it was learned.

On the same day, L’Initiative announced a technical assistance support for an amount of Euro 66,500 to the Regional Health Bureau of Tigray in order to facilitate the fast resumption of Global Fund funded activities in this region, the release stated.

According to the statement, this important scale up in L’Initiative engagement in Ethiopia attests to its will to critically contribute to the effectiveness of the response to pandemic and health system in Ethiopia.
