USAID Launches 90 Mil USD Urban, Climate Resilience WASH Projects

Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched today a five year Urban WASH and Climate resilient WASH projects worth 90 million USD.

Urban WASH is 45 million USD projects that will provide construction and technical support to accelerate access to WASH services in ten secondary cities in Ethiopia.

Similarly, Climate Resilience WASH is also 45 million USD million projects that will focus on providing similar services underserved rural populations in Afar, Oromia, and South and Central Ethiopia as well as Somali Regional States.

The government of Ethiopia identifies water and sanitation as a priority for achieving sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction and targeted health and social outcomes.

The government’s plan commitment and goals to strengthen the country’s WASH services are articulated in the Ten Years development plan (2021-2030), it was indicated.

State Minister of Water and Energy Ambassador Asfaw Dingamo, Mission Director, USAID Ethiopia, Scott Hocklander, US Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Massinga, and other government officials were present at the launching of the projects.
