Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopia and South Africa signed an agreement declaring the establishment of a Strategic Partnership effective today.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Taye Atske-Selassie, and his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor signed the agreement today in a ceremony held on the sideline of the 44th Ordinary Executive Council meeting of the African Union.

The Strategic Partnership builds upon the strong friendship forged during the anti-apartheid struggle and is aimed at advancing political cooperation and expanding economic relations.

The agreement also aims to broaden and deepen the bilateral relationships in various fields.

Intensifying bilateral dialogue and cooperation in multilateral fora on matters of mutual interest is also one of the priority objectives of the agreement.
