Institute for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, UNDP Agree to Cooperate in Common Areas

Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The Executive Director of the Institute for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia Jafar Bedru received and discussed with UNDP Resident Representative in Ethiopia, Samuel Gbaydee Doe on possible areas of collaboration between the institute and UNDP.

On the occasion, Jafar briefed the representative about the Institute’s mission and priority areas of research, policy dialogue, workshops and capacity building.

He disclosed that such sorts of discussion are fundamental in fostering sustainable development and achieving the common goals of IFA and UNDP.

Jafar added that focusing on researches with regard to peace and security, international relations, environmental change in the continental and global level will decisively increase the quality of decision making.

UNDP Resident Representative on his part stated that UNDP’s focus areas, such as supporting regional integration efforts and Sustainable Development, align with the Institute’s mandate and activities.

He also supplement in his view that evidence based research is quite important and instrumental in shaping policies and providing policy recommendations.

The Executive Director underscored the Institute’s influence within and abroad on its work of strategic policy researches and organizing timely policy dialogues.

Above all, he asserted that criticality of diplomacy for peace and security investment is merely meant for investing on the institute’ capacity of diplomacy.

Both sides agreed to cooperate in common areas of interest and will sign a MoU shortly.
