Ethiopians in Sudan Rally to Denounce Interference, Express Support for Tigray Operation

Africa-PressEthiopia. March 20/2021(ENA)Thousands of Ethiopians living in Sudan have expressed their support for the law enforcement operation in Tigray region and denounced the diplomatic pressure of some countries and interference in the internal affairs of the country.

Religious fathers, elders, women and the youth in Khartoum took part in the rally held yesterday under the motto, “we stand with our government for the sovereignty and unity of our country.”

In the six-point statement they issued after the demonstration, they condemned the tresonus act of the extremist TPLF clique which back stabbed the Northern Command of the National Defense Force.

The immediate action taken by the government saved the country from falling apart and there was no other choice than enforcing the law, the statement added.

They also denounced the propaganda and dissemination of false information by remnants of TPLF and the pressure by some countries and organizations.

They also commended the effort being exerted by the government to reconstruct infrastructures damaged by TPLF and deliver humanitarian support for the needy in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Sudan Yibeltal Aemro appreciated the gathering for coming out to rally behind the government and unity of the country, and condemned the betrayal of TPLF and its efforts to destroy the country after it lost power following the reform.

Revealing that TPLF had from the outset the goal to secede from Ethiopia and establish Republic of Tigray, the ambassador stated unimaginable chaos could have occurred in the region had the recent preemptive attack of the clique succeeded.

Even if the government has completed the law enforcement operation successfully, remnants of TPLF, beneficiaries as well as some quarters are trying hard to revive the dead party.

Ambassador Yibeltal stressed that all Ethiopians should stand together to guard the country and expose false information and propaganda disseminated on the mass media.
