Police Captures Two Smugglers with 599 Turkish-made Pistols In Gondar

n style=”color: #ff6600;”>Africa-PressEthiopia. Addis Ababa March 22/2021 Police disclosed that it has captured two suspects who have tried to smuggle 599 Turkish-made pistols in a truck in to the city of Gondar, Amhara Regional State.

Gondar City Police Department Media and Communication Head, Chief Inspector Eyerus Asmare told ENA that the suspects were arrested during a search operation in the area around 11 AM on Monday.

The smugglers were
trying to transport the weapons with a vehicle from Sudan, Magnen to the
Ethiopian City of Gondar but captured at a place called Woleqa, a checkpoint
near the town, according to the head.

The inspector has also
confirmed that the source of the weapons was from Sudan.

As illegal gun
trafficking disrupts public peace and security, the head called on the
community to continue to report illegal activities of such kind to the police.
