Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hadera Abera, today held discussions with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation of the Republic of Uganda, Mulimba John.

The discussions focused on further deepening the longstanding bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on economic cooperation and regional peace and security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed.

During the meeting, State Minister Hadera highlighted the importance of holding regular Joint Ministerial Commission meetings as a mechanism to boost the partnership by providing a platform to discuss common agendas.

He further underscored the significance of strengthening regional blocs, including IGAD, in the realization of the AU’s Agenda 2063.

To nurture diplomatic and political relations, and as part of fulfilling the objectives of the AfCFTA, it is also important to intensify cooperation in investment and business fields, added Ambassador Hadera.

Mulimba John, for his part, expressed Uganda’s commitment to reinforce previously signed agreements to advance bilateral relations.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the maintenance of regional peace and security.

Both sides agreed that the two countries need to work closely in combating terrorism while also making joint efforts to enhance climate resilience, ensure the fair and equitable utilization of transboundary water resources, and advocate for African solutions to African problems.
