Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopia is committed to completing history making projects that strengthen unity and advance progress of the nation, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh said.

Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh today launched the 144-km long Mieso Dire Dawa expressway–a new milestone in Ethiopia’s journey of resurgence.

Temesgen shared on his social media post that the 144-kilometer road reflects our vision and determination to expand infrastructure and secure prosperity.

The expressway is a living symbol of coexistence and common progress, he said.

The deputy prime minister added: “It will connect the Oromia and Somali regions with Dire Dawa, fostering economic and social interaction among our people, serve as a vital artery of the Eastern Economic Corridor and cutting costs and saving time from the port to the center of the country, while opening doors to national and global markets.”

He noted that the road would create new opportunities for Ethiopian products and strengthen our role in continental free trade.

“We will provide constant support and close monitoring to ensure success, while holding all partners accountable to deliver the project with discipline, speed, and quality,” he stressed.

Financed with 62.6 billion Birr secured from the World Bank, the expressway is expected to be completed within four years, it was learnt.
