During the press briefing, the spokesperson of the commission, Tibebu Tadesse, stated that the commission is making all efforts aimed at ensuring the inclusivity and participation of the process.

He noted that the commission is engaging with Ethiopians, those of Ethiopian descent, as well as institutions and associations located abroad.

In this regard, the spokesperson said that preparations are underway to hold agenda-setting and representative elections soon in North America and Canada.

He also mentioned that the commission will facilitate opportunities for diaspora members to participate both in person and online, adding that a registration process is currently underway to help with preparations for meeting halls and logistics.

Tibebu indicated that the agenda-setting and representative elections in North America will take place on August 30, 2025. The Canadian event will follow the one in North America.

He urged all parties to actively participate to make the process a success.

Additionally, the spokesperson stated that preparations are being made to include citizens who are currently under legal custody in the national dialogue, with a positive response received from the Ministry of Justice and the Federal Prisons Administration.

The Ethiopian National Dialogue represents a crucial initiative designed to tackle the entrenched political, social, and ethnic divisions that have affected the nation for many years.

The initiative is spearheaded by the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC), an autonomous entity formed by the government in 2021.

The main objective of the national dialogue is to promote a national consensus on key national matters and establish a forum for transparent discussion.
