Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopian delegation is actively participating in the Algiers 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) that is anticipated to generate trade and investment deals worth 44 billion USD.
Algiers is hosting, from 4th to 10th September, the 4th IATF under the slogan “Gateway to New Opportunities,” bringing together delegations from 140 countries and over 2,000 companies from Africa and beyond.
Organized in collaboration with the Government of Algeria, Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the AfCFTA Secretariat, the fair was inaugurated in a grand opening ceremony by the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the International Centre of Conferences in the presence of leaders and senior officials from African countries, as well as representatives of various countries and regional and international organizations.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Algeria, Muktar Mohamed, together with Ethiopian senior government representatives, participated in the opening ceremony.
Representing Ethiopia, a delegation led by Meskerem Bahru, Lead Executive for Export Promotion and Market Facilitation at the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, is actively participating in the Algiers International Trade Fair.
The delegation, comprising over 45 representatives from 16 leading Ethiopian companies, is showcasing products and services in key export sectors, including coffee, textiles, agro-processing, meat, pulses, oilseeds, and spices.
These offerings are being presented to business organizations and individuals from Algeria, other African countries, and global markets attending the event. This platform provides an excellent opportunity to foster trade and investment partnerships.
This premier platform is expected to generate trade and investment deals worth 44 billion USD, creating opportunities for stronger business linkages, partnerships, and economic growth across the continent.
Ethiopia’s business delegation is expected to seize this platform to engage in B2B meetings and explore new opportunities across the continent in order to build meaningful trade linkages.
In this connection, the Ethiopian Embassy in Algiers, in collaboration with the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is working to organize an Ethiopia–Algeria Business Forum on the margins of the trade fair.
The forum will provide an excellent opportunity to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), first envisioned at the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963, was realized in 2017, with the inaugural fair hosted by Egypt in 2018.
During today’s opening ceremony, it was announced that Nigeria will host the fifth edition of IATF in two years.
It was also revealed that the IATF, as an institution of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), will establish its permanent headquarters in Zimbabwe.
