Africa-Press – Ethiopia. India has purchased approximately 5 million barrels of crude oil from West Africa and the Middle East through a tender this week, according to local sources.
The purchases included “Kissanje” and “Nemba” crude from Angola, as well as “Usan” crude from Nigeria, along with Murban crude from Abu Dhabi. The shipments will be directed to the Paradip, Vadinar, and Chennai refineries.
This deal reflects the ongoing interest of Asian buyers in African oil following supply disruptions in the Middle East due to the U.S. war on Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, providing producers like Angola and Nigeria an opportunity to strengthen their presence in Asian markets.
