Africa-Press – Ethiopia. <\/strong><\/span>Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has said he pulled out of Nigeria\u2019s squad to face the Black Stars of Ghana in a 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs because he tested COVID-19 positive a day before his flight.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST had reported earlier this week that Okoye was dropped from the Super Eagles squad to face Ghana in Kumasi on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper, who was replaced by Enyimba\u2019s John Noble, said he was \u2018very sad\u2019 not to be part of the Super Eagles squad that will tackle the Black Stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was tested positive a day before my flight and I did a second test also positive,\u201dOkoye told Ojbsports.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate, but I just want to send my love to the people and to the team and best of luck for this big clash.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very sad to miss this big game, but I\u2019m sure the team will do the job, and we\u2019ll meet again in Qatar. So best of luck Nigeria and may God bring us victory.\u201d<\/p>\n
