{"id":1316,"date":"2021-01-02T19:00:13","date_gmt":"2021-01-02T19:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ethiopia\/?p=1316"},"modified":"2021-01-02T18:57:36","modified_gmt":"2021-01-02T18:57:36","slug":"railway-corporation-chinese-company-sign-mou-to-develop-infrastructures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/ethiopia\/all-news\/railway-corporation-chinese-company-sign-mou-to-develop-infrastructures","title":{"rendered":"Railway Corporation, Chinese Company Sign MOU to Develop Infrastructures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>n style=&#8221;color: #ff6600;&#8221;&gt;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/ethiopia\">Ethiopia<\/a>. <\/strong>Addis Ababa, January (2\/2021) Ethiopian Railway Corporation and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop infrastructures connecting the national railway line with Awash Petroleum Depot.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ministry of Transport, the agreement will connect the National Railway to the Awash National Petroleum Depot, which is capable of holding up to 130,000 cubic meters of fuel.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement also include the construction of facilities vital for loading and unloading services in the project area.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of the whole project is expected to consume close to 55 million USD which is going to be covered by the government of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will have significant contribution in connecting the Ethio-Djibouti railway with the Awash \u2013 Kombolcha \u2013 Haragebaya railway project, it was noted.<\/p>\n<p>According to the agreements, the Chinese company will complete the construction of the project within one year.<\/p>\n<p>The project is believed to provide alternative for fuel transportation that has been undertaken using only road transportation.<\/p>\n<p>It will also contribute to reduce transport expense, road traffic jam, and environmental pollution as well as prevent oil theft, according to the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>About 110 tankers have been readied along the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway line to store fuel when the project goes operational.<\/p>\n<p>Ethiopia imports 95 percent of its petroleum through Djibouti port.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>n style=&#8221;color: #ff6600;&#8221;&gt;Africa-Press &#8211; Ethiopia.
